It remains to be seen which NFL team LSU quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels will play for once the 2024 NFL Draft wraps up.

But the dual-threat QB and projected top-three pick is pushing back against a report that people in his camp would rather he not play for the Patriots.

During a TV appearance on Monday night, NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry reported that some in Daniels’ circle don’t exactly view Foxborough as a perfect fit for the talented QB.

“What I did hear about Daniels is that there are those in his camp who really would rather he not come to New England,” Perry noted. “And that’s probably climate-related, a guy who grew up in San Bernardino, California, played at Arizona State and LSU, and now all of a sudden is in Foxborough, Massachusetts and [is] trying to figure things out when it’s snowing and below freezing? Again I don’t think that would be a concern for the Patriots, but it would be interesting to see how he would embrace the area.”

But on Tuesday, Daniels took to X/Twitter to refute that report — posting that any potential hesitation to join New England is “cap,” or untrue.

With New England holding onto the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Daniels stands as a viable target for a franchise in desperate need of an overhaul on the offensive side of the ball.

Daniels stuffed the stat sheet last season at LSU, scoring 50 total touchdowns (40 passing, 10 rushing) while passing for 3,812 yards and rushing for 1,134 yards.

Even though Daniels did not throw or take part in drills during the NFL Scouting Combine last week in Indianapolis, he did speak to the media. During his press conference, Daniels was asked about potentially playing for the Patriots.

“It’d be dope,” he told reporters. “Obviously growing up and seeing what Tom Brady did there, six Super Bowls, that’s tough to live up to. But it would be dope to come in there, see the success that they had, and help them get back on that track.”
