While the big league Red Sox put on a show at Fenway Park Saturday, three of the organization’s best minor league players put their talents on display in Texas.

Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Kyle Teel, who are currently listed as MLB.com’s No. 14, 7, and 24 prospects respectively, appeared in the league’s Futures Games festivities. Anthony competed in the Futures Game Skills Showcase while Mayer and Teel played in the Futures All-Star Game.

Both events took place at the Texas Rangers’ ballpark in Arlington, Globe Life Field.

The first-of-its-kind Skills Showcase, which will be televised Sunday, featured eight players whose end goal was to finish with the most points by displaying the best bat control. Each hitter went through eight rounds of specific batting competitions generally aiming to hit the ball to a particular spot on the field.

Anthony, a 20-year-old outfielder, won the Skills Showcase with 66 points. He hit six home runs on eight swings during the home run derby portion of the challenge, according to The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier. The current Double-A Portland Sea Dogs player rocked a pair of Wally the Green Monster cleats for the event.

After the Skills Showcase, Anthony proudly donned his Sea Dogs cap while talking to reporters at the podium.

“It’s great to represent the minor league team,” he said (h/t Speier).

Anthony was selected 79th overall by Boston in the 2022 MLB Draft.

As for the annual Futures All-Star Game, 22-year-old Kyle Teel was the only player for either team (American or National League) to record multiple hits. The Portland catcher notched two doubles in as many at-bats. His first hit flew over the glove of the center fielder.

The Red Sox drafted Teel out of Virginia with the No. 14 pick in last year’s draft.

In Mayer’s case, the Sea Dogs shortstop finished the day 0-for-2, but notched a 104-mile-per-hour groundout in his second at-bat.

Similar to teammates Anthony and Teel, Mayer, the No. 4 overall pick in 2021, has a chance to be promoted to Triple-A Worcester before this season’s end.
