It’s all fun and games until somebody gets hurt.

Luckily, former Patriot Julian Edelman had a healthy sense of humor after Bill Belichick made his first major post-coaching appearance Wednesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” — instead of Edelman’s “Games With Names.”

The Super Bowl LIII MVP popped onto the podcast scene in late 2022. Since then, he’s hosted many high profile guests on the podcast. Multiple former New England personnel have graced the mic, including most recently Matthew Slater and Ernie Adams.

But he’s still yet to land Belichick.

Back in January, Edelman confessed to FOX’s Charissa Thompson that he would be “hurt” if his former coach chose to join McAfee before taking a seat on the “Games With Names” sofa.

“I need to get Bill on this dang couch,” Edelman said. “I swear if he does McAfee before he does my show, that would hurt me. Coach, I didn’t take all those team friendly deals for just nothing.”

After catching wind of the betrayal, Edelman took to X, reposting the clip from the January episode with the caption “I’m cool. I’m fine. Everything’s fine.”

Belichick’s appearance on McAfee’s show came alongside an announcement that the 72-year-old will be co-hosting with the former Colts punter’s 2024 NFL Draft coverage.

Without a coaching gig lined up for the 2024 season, Belichick is reportedly exploring other media opportunities. Most notably, he is reportedly preparing to sign a contract with Omaha Productions, Peyton Manning’s production company. Omaha Productions partners with ESPN for Monday Night Football’s “Manningcast.”
